One of the strangest places I have ever been to is the lunar landscape of the Salar de Uyuni (or Salar de Tunupa) which is the world's largest salt flat at 10,582 km˛(4,085 square miles. It is located in the Potosí and Oruro areas of southwest Bolivia, near the crest of the Andes, 3,650 meters high. An awesome place. I have been to Boliva twice with my kids and both times travelled extensively around the whole country. We even ventured up the Amazon Basin by boat to an eco-lodge about three days travel from civilisation. Awesome!
